Qanelas is the primary typeface for UTÖKA, it is used throughout. Everything from header elements all the way down to the footnote should be set in Qanelas. As a modern sans-serif, it is unique in that it has touches of geometric elements. The typeface was designed by Radomir Tinkov.
Using the typeface requires paying close attention to the variety of weights and proportions. Large headers on a light background should feel weighty, and draw attention. Body type should feel light and readable. Using the typeface on a dark background calls for different solutions. Sometimes large type on a dark background should have a less extreme contrast, so extra-light weight of the typeface should be used. Other times, it should be heavier to invoke a sense of strangeness to compliment a nonlinear layout.
When representing the name ‘UTÖKA’ in Qanelas, the name should always be set in uppercase. The ‘Ö’ should also always be represented with a umlaut-O glyph. When representing the name in an email, website, or other short-hand, always use a lowercase form, ‘utoka’. This is done as to not confuse a viewer in what they should type in a browser address.
